Over the last two weeks, every Kenyan who reads a newspaper has learnt at least two Kikuyu words, kihii and kimundu. The latter has been translated (I don’t know by who) to be a nuisance bully; even I didn’t know that. I call people who are neither a nuisance nor a bullies that all the time. Since Kibunja may be listening, I will be careful now. That said though, it is the former (kihii) though that seems to raise eyebrows every time it is uttered especially by politicians. (more…)

Kenyans love sensational stories and that is why we hold very strong opinions. We are also very episodic as a people and hence enjoy it when our media brings to us these interesting drama as we have been treated to lately.
The first is the Kiunjuri – Ngilu drama. Kiunjuri is transferred from the Ministry of Water and Irrigation by Kibaki and Raila. he doesn’t like that; I can’t understand why. Then he decides to fight Ngilu. Thankfully, he brings to us the extent of rot at the ministry. Ngilu then comes out with guns blazing attacking Kiunjuri with all manner of accusations. (more…)
